Biometric Authentication Including Fingerprint and Facial Recognition Strengthens Security and Convenience Secures Track Record with Seoul's Public Web Service Deployment
OneMoreSecurity (CEO Kim, Min Sik) announced that it has deployed 'OneMorePass,' a passwordless authentication solution, on the Seoul Metropolitan Government website.
OneMorePass is a next-generation integrated authentication solution based on the FIDO international standard, supporting a range of authentication methods including fingerprint and facial recognition, PIN, and pattern. It is designed with both web and mobile environments in mind, as well as integration with a variety of information systems, and supports REST API-based integration along with user linkage to external directories such as Open LDAP, Active Directory, and Microsoft Entra ID. Using its integrated authentication app and SDK, it can be flexibly applied to fit a customer's service environment.
This deployment on the Seoul city website applied the UAF (Universal Authentication Framework) method based on FIDO (Fast IDentity Online). UAF is a passwordless method in which users verify their identity using a device's biometric authentication features, such as fingerprint or facial recognition, without entering a separate password. This reduces security risks such as password loss, theft, or misuse that can arise in conventional ID-and-password-based authentication environments, while also improving convenience.
In particular, FIDO-based authentication uses a public-key authentication structure, unlike conventional methods that rely on passwords stored on a central server. As a result, users of the Seoul city website can now use a safer and more convenient authentication service based on biometrics, without the burden of remembering or repeatedly entering complex passwords.
This deployment is significant in that it applies passwordless FIDO authentication technology to a public web service used by a large number of Seoul citizens. Building on this deployment case, OneMoreSecurity plans to expand the application of OneMorePass to central and local government bodies, public institutions, and sectors such as finance and enterprise that require a high level of authentication security and user convenience.
An OneMoreSecurity official said, "This deployment on the Seoul city website focused on applying a password-free, FIDO UAF-based authentication method to simultaneously improve authentication convenience and security for citizens," adding, "We will continue to expand passwordless authentication environments across the public and private sectors, and provide an authentication environment that allows users to use digital services more safely and conveniently."
